Affordability

The Samis Foundation established the Day School Affordability Initiative to make tuition for Seattle-area Jewish day schools even more affordable. The initiative provides financial relief for families whose income is too high to qualify for traditional scholarships, but for whom day school tuition is still a real barrier given the many competing priorities they face.

The program ensures that for families who earn less than $350,000, tuition will not exceed $15,450/year per child or 15% of their Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), whichever is lower. Click here to apply and contact admissions@jds.org for more information.

The Discovery Grant was established by a group of community donors for families interested in Jewish day school education. It is a one-time $3,000 grant to be used towards tuition and is for each new family to Kindergarten through 6th Grade. There are a limited number of grants available each year. Grant awards are subject to admission to JDS and cannot be combined with Flexible Tuition or other tuition programs. Notification of receipt of a Discovery Grant award is included in your child’s JDS contract.
